F’ off with your FOMO

A short rant against "everyone's already mastered this" content - especially in AI and on LinkedIn - and why you shouldn't let manufactured FOMO get to you.

Maybe it's because I keep reading this stuff before my first coffee, but I'm done with the "you're falling behind if you're not doing XYZ" genre of content. You have come across it. "Everyone else has figured this out, and you're daft for not keeping up."

It's everywhere, especially in AI. It's everywhere from vendors selling you something. It's everywhere on LinkedIn.

You've seen the posts: "I asked GPT-5 to rebuild my entire business and now I sleep 4 hours a night, if you're not doing this you're already behind." The vendor decks with a stat like "78% of companies have already adopted [product], don't get left behind." The comment-bait: "Most people are still doing X manually in 2026... wild."

Here's the thing: the vast majority of people have not "mastered" whatever it is. Especially in AI - everyone is figuring it out. No one has solved most of these problems, and anyone claiming they have is just trying to sell you something. Sure, some people think about a specific problem full-time and genuinely know it cold. A few others have actually figured it out - for their vertical, for their specific set of problems. That's not the majority, and it's definitely not the guy posting three times a day.

Not sure where this rant ends, but: you shouldn't feel bad because other people are exaggerating. As long as you're working towards what you actually want to do, that's good enough.

That said - I do have a course. "Master AI and Solve All Your Problems With These Tips Everyone Else Already Knows (But You Don't, Because You're Lazy)." £1,000. DM me.
